Description

We are building a team around a variety of apps for road trip planning as well as finding camping locations across North America. In addition, the team will focus on designing and implementing new connected home and connected vehicle apps from the ground.

As a detail oriented Software Manual QA Engineer you will be responsible for the hands-on testing of web and mobile applications. This role focuses on exploratory testing, test case design and execution, release validation, and clear, detailed bug reporting. The Manual QA Engineer partners closely with Engineering and Product to understand features, identify risks, and be the voice of the end user in ensuring product quality.

Key Responsibilities

      • Design, write, and execute manual test cases and test plans for web and mobile applications.
      • Perform exploratory, regression, smoke, and acceptance testing across features and releases.
      • Validate bug fixes and sign off on releases before production deployment.
      • Write clear, reproducible bug reports with environment details, screenshots, and expected vs. actual behavior.
      • Communicate with Engineering and Product teams about testing requirements, risks, and anomalies found during testing.
      • Conduct cross-browser, cross-device, and responsive testing using Chrome DevTools and similar tooling.
      • Partner with the Automation QA to identify high-value candidates for automation and provide scenarios and expected results.
      • Participate in feature kickoffs, design reviews, and sprint planning to surface testability concerns early.

Qualifications

      • 2+ years of experience in a manual QA or Test Engineer role (or equivalent experience).
      • Demonstrated ability to design thorough test cases and uncover edge cases through exploratory testing.
      • Experience testing modern web applications and at least one mobile platform (iOS or Android).
      • Working familiarity with bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Linear, GitHub Issues) and test case management.
      • Strong attention to detail and excellent written communication skills.
      • Ability to read and navigate basic HTML/CSS and JavaScript to debug issues in the browser.
      • Experience with Chrome DevTools or similar for inspecting network requests, console errors, and DOM.
      • Basic understanding of REST APIs and the ability to validate API responses using tools like Postman (Preferred).
      • Exposure to automated testing frameworks or a clear interest in growing into automation work (Preferred).
